Since students are given plenty of time to complete their assignment projects in class, I have very little tolerance for late work. To illustrate exactly how I feel about late work, I wrote this cute little poem.
Excuses!
Excuses! Excuses everywhere.
In the halls and in the air.
I have to go. I cannot wait.
I'll be tardy. I'll be late.
But that's not fair, I just forgot.
I dropped it in the parking lot.
We were not home. My folks were gone.
The darned assignment was too long.
I tried, but just don't understand.
It's hard to write, I broke my hand.
My dog, he died. The cat got sick.
My homework's floating in the 'crick.'
It's still at home; it's on my desk.
My brother's such a pesky pesk.
I lost my book. My locker's jammed.
Big test today. My schedule's crammed.
I stubbed my toe. I broke a nail.
Excuse or not, that's tough, you fail.
